BC beginner progression guide: from the start to manics and mina (2024)

Hi, welcome to my perspective of how to progress in BC smoothly early game. If you’re wondering about my qualifications, I have 2 endgame accounts and helped 3 of my friends reach endgame, so I guess I’m pretty qualified. Now to start off the guide.

The first thing going into battle cats is understanding that the game will be frustrating, and it will take hours and hours to get one small reward. Be mentally prepared for tough times, and be sure always motivate yourself to continue on. So many people come unprepared for the grind factor of the game and quit early, so be mentally prepared if you wish to get far in this game.

The mechanic that makes this game so grindy is treasures. Treasures make such a difference on unit recharge, defense, attack, energy, money production, trait effectiveness, debuffs on enemies, etc that they are essential to get. Most guides online even automatically assume you have full treasure. This is why my recommendation is to play a stage until you get the gold or superior treasure. Since as you progress you gain more buffs to your cats that make farming future stages easier. This applies to ALL parts of the game with treasures, not just empire or cats which is your starting point. Another tip is to not use your treasure radars, as they are much more valuable for farming xp which takes much much longer.

Once you beat Japan in empire of cats, you will be introduced to who tf designed this the gacha system and be given a rare ticket. You should probably roll it as a good gacha unit like swimmer or hip hop could make empire of cats a joke. Something like delinquent or kotatsu could also help on the final stage of empire of cats which is pretty infamous as the gatekeeper in battle cats. Even something like thief cat could help greatly in farming treasures. Do not sell any common gacha unit you get, as they are all going to be helpful at some point later on. The worst scenario here is actually getting an uber, which I’ll get into.

Uber are highly highly impractical very early game, as they take crazy amounts of xp to be effective unlike rares and super rares, and most cost a fortune to deploy. It is also a myth that uber carries the game, as a huge amount of them would have no use beyond a certain point. Rares and super rares carry the entire game and are easily more valuable than most ubers. If you do get an uber, I highly suggest researching about it and seeing if it would actually help throughout the whole game, UDP is sometimes inaccurate but overall extremely helpful for researching ubers. If not, I would suggest putting it in storage until a certain busted mechanic is unlocked.

Onto purchasable special cats, cat god is only 2000xp and should be obtained as he does give some nice buffs if you eve get stuck, but save the free baby boom until you get stuck. If you click on cat god, it will force you to baby boom free once. Ninja is nice if you don’t have thief, othewise you can buy him later. Boogie however is very important and should be obtained as a third meatshield. Only buy special cats on discount and don’t think about the rest before completing into the future.

The first two chapters should be a relative breeze, and so should most of the third with lv 20s unlocked. At the same time you should try stories of legends, as those stages give solid rewards. They especially give leaderships that restore energy to full for farming treasures. The stage to worry about is chapter 3 moon, which is the first difficult stage in the game meant to check on your treasures. If you had full gold treasures before this, just spam 3 meatshields(tank, cat, boogie), whatever gacha cats that may be helpful, and dragon to win. This give you the first backliner generalist of the game assuming you didn’t get any ubers of the same role like amaterasu.

With the third chapter cleared, it’s time to focus on getting true form for your cats. Basic cats can be true formed easily with 10 duplicates, but other cats require lv 30. Unless you have a crazy amount of dupes, they could only be true formed once you reach a certain user rank. Farming xp stages and upgrading stuff is the only way, but it shouldn’t take as long anymore if you saved all your radars to get the best reward. 1600 is the first big checkpoint where you can upgrade all non crazed cats to lv 30, but only 1200 is needed for lv 30 rares. This gives you the ability to true form important cats like sanzo and cameraman and attempt harder xp stages like megablitz for even more user rank. Meanwhile, continue stories of legend progress and start repeating the same farming treasure method for into the future. Prioritize treasures that debuff aliens first and it should be a breeze. If you ever get stuck, follow my next steps and come back.

Now there’s an officer pass in BC that gives 600 cat flood, a rare ticket, and free speed ups over 30 days. This is great for getting an uber and farming treasures, and is also completely free first purchase. Once you get the sweet 750 catfood, wait for guaranteed almighties and draw the 11 draw when there’s the discount. You have a 50% chance of getting a top tier uber throughout the game, and a 11% chance of getting something that instantly invalidates into the future. If you get zeus or anubis however, keep them in storage and wait for itf 3 to be completed.

Meanwhile all crazed cats and cyclones are very worth attempting. Cyclones give you the ultimate counters to metals, and crazed cats are extremely important units in the game. With lv 30s they shouldn’t pose too much of a difficulty with a few attempts. Important to also use radars on the cyclones so you get guaranteed rewards. Youtube offers some very reliable strategies, use them. If you get bad luck on procs, force close and restart before you lose without spending any more energy to completely retry the level.

With newly acquired manics, continue on into the future and finish chapter 3. This gives 3 significant rewards: awakened bahamut cat, talents, and bomber cat. If you swipe the screen 100 times and beat a stage that appears on the 2nd and 22nd of every month at 2:22 pm, you get bomber cat. Bomber cat is the ultimate xp farmer with his insane ability to freeze blacks. Awakened bahamut is a top tier rusher that lets you attempt advent stages in the future, and talents are some of the scariest stuff to ever exist in battle cats. Sell anything you still have in storage for np, and go spend it. The first priority at this point of the game is sanzo’s angel talent, which instantly invalidates many angel pushers. Then pizza wave is a huge upgrade to further destroy xp stages. Take note of this doc for talent priority for other units (credits to LemonCakeDude): https://docs.google.com/document/d/13O-FD3fi5UtiHLDAz5fCUXe7GtjXYXQwSLhmPues0KU/edit

You should also be facing legend bosses at this point. Ururun and li’l nyandam shouldn’t be huge threats, but always come prepared for a level and research before attempting any new level. SoL isn’t a big deal with the right units at this point. There is also a unit you should try getting through behemoth culling stages. Complete 5 and farm some cubes for courier cat, the strongest offensive cat in the game and bane to any red enemy.

And that’s it for my first guide, my next guide would feature mid game, with manics and advents.
