COLUMBIA— A national burger chain has opened one of its long-awaited locations in Columbia.
Checker’s, which has over 500 locations in 23 states, has opened one of two planned locations in the Midlands, according to the chain’s website.
The 7373 Two Notch Road restaurant was listed as open on the company’s website on June 17, with Facebook posts denoting a busy opening day that afternoon. “Coming Soon” signs were hanging outside the store at the beginning of the month.
“It's been years since we ate at one (in Augusta) but boy, they were delicious!” one user commented.
The Columbia Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting for the new location at noon on June 17, according to the chamber’s website. Coupons were offered to the first 100 customers and face painting was available on site, according to the chamber.

The location will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 a.m. daily, according to the chain’s website.
Checker’s location at 901 Bush River Road remains under construction.
“The one on Bush River Rd is coming along too,” one Facebook user commented under a post showing cars in the Two Notch location’s drive-through on June 17. “Hubby is EXCITED.”
The chain, owned by Atlanta-based Falcons Group, did not respond to requests for comment on the scheduled opening date for the Bush River Road location. The group also owns Checker’s sister brand Rally’s, as well as Dunkin’ Doughnuts, Baskin’ Robbins and TGI Fridays, according to its website.
The two Columbia locations will join franchises in North Augusta, Florence and the Charleston area, per the company website.
The Two Notch location was the first of the two announced in early 2023, The Post and Courier reported. A former bank was demolished at the location to make way for the double-drive-through restaurant.
Checker’s offers burgers, fries, chicken, hot dogs and drinks, according to the website.
