Get ready to conquer the final boss in the ELDEN RING DLC with our Consort Radahn tank build guide. We’ll cover everything from the equipment and buffs needed to solo or co-op, to the essential boss mechanics you’ll need to know. Let’s jump right into the info dump and get you prepared for this epic battle.

Weapons

Weapon Choice:

Status effects are strong against Radahn. Anything with bleed is a good option but there are a few thrusting weapons you can use with a great shield that allow for dual status effects.

Antspur Rapier – Has innate rot build use bleed affinity with this weapon for Radahn.

Cross-Naginata – Has innate bleed combine with frost or poison affinity.

Spiked Spear – Has innate bleed combine with frost or poison affinity.

Bloodfiend’s Fork – Has innate bleed combine with frost or poison affinity.

Antspur Rapier is probably the best thrusting weapon for Radahn but anything with bleed is perfectly fine.

Shield Choice:

You want a shield with 100% physical damage negation, high holy damage negation, and high guard boost. Your best options are as follows.

Verdigris Greatshield – 100 Physical Negation, 68 Holy Negation, 82 Guard Boost, and 28 Weight.

Fingerprint Stone Shield – 100 Physical Negation, 75 Holy Negation, 77 Guard Boost, and 29 Weight.

Black Steel Greatshield – 100 Physical Negation, 84 Holy Negation, 69 Guard Boost, and 19.5 Weight.

Armor choices:

Fashion souls is never the wrong choice but this boss hits hard so here are some good options. Choose whatever you like as long as it fits within your equip load.

Special equipment:

Fire Knight’s Helmet – Grants Max HP, Stamina, and Equip Load similar to that of Erdtree’s Favor talisman.

Rotten Duelist Set – Increases enemy aggression towards you. Useful for tanking when helping out other players in co-op the host just needs to live until the boss is dead.

White Mask – Increases attack power by 10% for 20 seconds when blood loss occurs.

High Physical Defense:

Verdigris Set – 45 Physical Negation, 28.9 Holy Negation, and 61.6 Weight.

Solitude Set – 41 Physical Negation, 30 Holy Negation, and 57.1 Weight.

Bull-Goat Set 38.2 Physical Negation, 25.4 Holy Negation, and 63 Weight.

Highest mixed set – Great Jar Helmet, Verdigris Chest, Verdigris Gauntlets, and Verdigris Greaves This armor comes to a total of 45.5 Physical Negation, 29.3 Holy Negation, and 62.8 Weight.

High Holy Defense:

Focusing on holy defense isn’t a bad option when using a great shield with 100% physical absorption.

Dane’s set – 11.4 Physical negation, 30.7 Holy Negation, and 12.1 Weight.

Solitude Set – 41 Physical Negation, 30 Holy Negation, and 57.1 Weight.

Gaius’s Set – 34.5 Physical Negation 29.2 Holy Negation, and 44.3 Weight.

Highest mixed set – Iji’s Mirrorhelm, Crucible Tree Chest, Godskin Apostle Bracers, and a 3-way tie for pants between Gold Waistwrap, Tree Sentinel Greaves, and Dryleaf Cuissardes. For a total of 26.2 – 34 Physical Negation, 31.3 Holy Negation, and 28.2 – 35.8 Weight depending on pants.

Talisman choices:

My setup:

Golden Braid – Raises holy damage negation by the utmost.

Pearl Shield Talisman – Raises all non-physical damage negation while guarding.

Greatshield Talisman – Boosts guarding ability (Reduces stamina drain from blocking).

Two-Headed Turtle Talisman – Greatly raises stamina recovery speed.

Optional replacements:

Dragoncrest Greatshield Talisman – Recommended if not using greatshield with 100% physical damage absorption.

Great Jar’s Arsenal – If you choose to get your holy damage negation from equipment instead you will likely need this to mitigate the increased equip load.

Lord of Blood’s Exultation – 20% damage buff for 20 seconds when blood loss occurs optional if you are happy with your survivability and just want more damage.

Shabriri’s Woe – Optional if you aren’t using the rotten duelist set but still want to keep aggro from others in co-op more often.

Finally scadutree fragments make a massive difference here is my stats unbuffed without scadutree fragments and then my stats with scadutree fragments:

Stat distribution

Recommended stats for tank build:

60 Vigor
10 Mind (12 if co-op and not host or if not using Radahn’s great rune) is enough for the basic buffs
40 Endurance (More if using heavier armor or weapons you want med. load for the iframes and to avoid the stamina penalty from heavy load.)
49 Strength (48 if using fingerprint or it can be lower if you choose a different greatshield)
20 Dexterity (For antspur rapier can be lower if you choose another weapon)
10 Intelligence (12 required if you choose to use fingerprint shield with scholar’s shield buff)
25 Faith (More if you choose to use stronger buffs)
30 Arcane (If you want to level higher dumping the rest of your points here up to the soft cap of 45 is a good option)

Boss Mechanics

When to heal and/or regain stamina:
– At the end of every basic attack combo he usually leaves a window long enough to put your shield down and regain stamina or to heal with 1 or 2 flasks. Occasionally he will use an ability that chains his combos together so be careful of that possibility I recommend not attacking below 30% stamina so as not to get shield broken.

Fully Blockable attacks:
– All of his basic attacks in phase 1 and his ground stomp.

-His dash attacks where “phantoms” of him attack you followed up by the real one dealing most of the damage. I am not sure if it is a bug or if I died to camera boss but very rarely the dash attack where he starts from directly in front and goes through you will one shot you or at the very least chunk out most of your hp even while blocking it.

Partially Block-able attacks:
– Multi meteor ability where Radahn rends the ground then floats up into the air to launch meteors at his target. I use moore’s shield and guardian talisman if you have less guard boost you might not be able to block this. It deals about 40% of my hp and stamina and could require more if he quickly follows up which is rather likely in phase 2 and 3.

– The charged aoe where Radahn picks a player and floats into the air while casting a massive aoe centered around where the player was when he began the cast. I prefer to position myself to block the aoe while standing right beside radahn so that I can start attacking again as he floats back down.

– Most of the damage from his basic attack combos in phase 2 and beyond have a holy damage trail come after the physical attack with decent enough holy negation it is only a small amount of chip damage and can mostly be ignored.

– Radahn has a fire slash which leaves a trail that explodes after a short delay. The damage is low and the stagger can be blocked so this attack can mostly be ignored.

– Radahn has a gravity pull which occasionally can also reposition you farther from him than you were. The damage of this attack is very minimal when blocked but he can quickly follow up with an attack chain if he pulls you in front of him.

– Ground aoe spike attack that either comes from his spinning gravity slash or from his dash slam attack in phase 2 or 3. When it comes from his spinning gravity slash I prefer to walk into him while guarding as it throws you to the ground for maybe 5-10% of your health depending on your negation stats and immunes you to the rest of the aoe which could deal anywhere from 20-50% of your health even when blocked.

-Radahn’s phase 3 transition meteor that targets the host. It has an initial small aoe slam aimed at where the host was as he starts to descend followed by a much larger explosion centered in the same location.

Unblock-able attacks:
– Radahn’s grab attack where he starts to glow stretches out his arms and then jumps to grab you. Dodge just as radahn starts to come down from the peak of his jump.

Tips and tricks for Radahn’s mechanics:
– The most likely first move Radahn uses upon entering the fog wall is his spinning gravity slash into the spike ground aoe. Either dodge into him slightly to the left or block into it.

– Radahn’s multi meteor attack can be blocked using the terrain which can let you position to get back to him faster while avoiding any stamina or health cost from blocking it or missing the dodge timing.

– There are several places where you can block his meteors with the terrain:

The front gate corners:

If you’re using a tank build you can position him just in front of the gate here.

Face him towards either the left or right of the gate then you can hide behind either corner of the gate which will block all of the meteors. Be careful if you stand too close to the gate while fighting him some of his attacks reposition him to the sides and the camera can get funky if your back is right up against the wall resulting in you getting hit even while blocking.

You can do the same thing on the corners of the walls to the northeast or southwest of the arena as well as the very back of the arena if the fight somehow ends up there.

My Build for co-op (Not host):

The build I have been running for co-op Consort Radahn.

Antspur Rapier +25 Blood Affinity can use Cragblade or Seppuku if you’d like for additional buffs.

Verdigris Greatshield +10

Any Seal will work just fine for buffs.

Rotten Duelist set to keep aggro off of the host. Depraved perfumer gloves to match.

Golden Braid, Pearl Shield Talisman, Two-Headed Turtle Talisman, and Greatshield Talisman.

Bestial Vitality and Golden Vow pre-buff at gate and Divine Fortification at start of phase 2.

Opaline Hardtear and Greenburst Crystal Tear pre-buff for my wondrous physick.
