What happens if you don't answer the door for FedEx? ›

Delivery attempts

If a shipment requires, either an indirect, direct or adult signature, and a delivery attempt is made, but no one is there to sign for the package, the driver will leave a door tag at the recipient's door. If no signature is required, the shipment will be left at the recipient's door.

FedEx Standard Overnight – delivered the next day, before the end of the day. FedEx 2Day AM – delivered the second business day before noon. FedEx 2Day – delivered the second business day before the end of the day. FedEx Express Saver – delivery depends upon location, but usually between 2-4 business days.

At a local FedEx facility means that your package has arrived at a local FedEx facility and is awaiting the next steps to move toward its final destination. If your package status is 'At a local FedEx facility': Your package is still on its journey.

How long does FedEx Express Saver shipping take? FedEx Express Saver shipping takes 3 business days. If you drop off your package on Monday, it'll be delivered on Thursday. Make sure you drop off before the shipping cutoff for your location so your package can be delivered on time.

How can I request a redelivery? In most cases, FedEx will attempt to deliver your package three times before returning it to the shipper. In case a courier is unable to leave your package, the courier will try to call you to check your availability and attempt the delivery.

If you were not home when we tried to deliver your package, you can schedule a new delivery time on the FedEx Delivery page. On the page, simply select the 'Missed Delivery Card' from the dropdown menu and enter your tracking number, email address and phone.

FedEx Ground is suitable for packages that weigh up to 150 pounds and have a maximum length of 108 inches. In contrast, FedEx Express can handle packages that weigh up to 150 pounds and have a maximum length of 119 inches. If your package exceeds these limits, you may need to consider other shipping options.

Generally, we make deliveries from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday–Friday, and on Saturday and Sunday for residential deliveries. Residential deliveries may be eligible to be redirected to a nearby FedEx location or participating retail location like Walgreens or Dollar General to be held for pickup for up to 7 days.

Packages are scanned at various points between pickup and delivery. The frequency of scans varies, and it's not unusual for a shipment to go more than 24 hours without an update while it's on its way to the final destination. This is especially true during periods of long travel.

Why is my package staying in one spot? ›

Your package could be stuck in transit for many reasons: loss, damage, or even a USPS tracking system failure. More likely, though, the short-staffed US Post Office has misplaced, mislabelled, or simply overlooked your package.

You can monitor your incoming and outgoing packages throughout the entire delivery process and receive alerts and notifications. You can also call 1.800.GoFedEx 1.800.463.3339 and say “track my package.” Or text “follow” plus your door tag number to 48773.

Express shipping is the fastest way to send a package, but it's not the cheapest. This is because express packages are flown by airplane for most of the journey. As a result, packages deliver within 24-72 hours.

If you're not home and your parcels won't fit through the letter box, or need a signature, posties will automatically redeliver the next working day. If nobody was in when we attempted to deliver something to your address, we'll leave a red 'something for you' card.
