Strawberry Margarita
I hear it’s National Margarita Day and what better way to celebrate than with a fresh Strawberry Margarita!
How to Make a Strawberry Margarita:
Add sliced strawberries, tequila, triple sec, fresh lime juice and simple syrup to a blender. Blend until smooth. Run a lime slice around the rim of the glass and dip in coarse salt. Add a bit of lime zest to your salt for a little extra zing. Fill glasses with ice and then add the blended strawberry margarita. Garnish with a fresh strawberry and a slice of lime.
How to make a Frozen Strawberry Margarita:
Use frozen strawberries that are slightly thawed or add ice to the blender with the strawberries, tequila, triple sec, lime juice and simple syrup. If you use sweetened frozen strawberries, you can skip the simple syrup.
How to Make Simple Syrup:
Simple syrup is equal parts sugar and water. Heat water almost to boiling and stir in sugar. Allow mixture to cool before using for drinks. Store in a mason jar for up to 3 weeks.
What’s the Difference between a Strawberry Margarita and a Strawberry Daiquiri?
Both co*cktails are made with strawberries and lime and are blended. Margaritas are made with tequila and daiquiris are made with rum. Both are delicious!
How to Make a Large Batch of Margaritas:
Sometimes you need a big batch of Margaritas to serve a crowd. No one likes to play bartender for the entire party. This recipe serves two just double as needed. Just blend strawberries, lime juice and simple syrup together and then stir in tequila and triple sec when you stir it into the pitcher.

We'll just tell you upfront: The secret to a tasty margarita is freshly squeezed lime juice (not the bottled stuff) and—here's the real secret—a splash of fresh OJ. That's right. Fresh-squeezed juice from an actual orange (not an orange-flavored liqueur) will produce a cleaner-tasting, more refreshing margarita.

To a shaker (or in my case, a coffee-to go mug), add a handful of ice, 2 ounces of strawberry syrup, tequila, triple sec and lime juice. Shake for 30 seconds. And then, divide amongst the glasses.
For the best strawberry margarita, choose a good blanco (or silver) tequila. It doesn't have to be your best because the strawberries have such a strong flavor, so budget-friendly tequilas will work just fine.
A splash of fruit juice can also add some more flavor to your margaritas. Grapefruit juice will give a tart, slightly sour flavor, while pineapple juice creates a more tropical-tasting drink. "Citrus-based juices are essential for balancing out the sweetness of a margarita," David Alan told Insider.
Triple sec is an orange-flavored liqueur that is commonly used in margaritas. If you don't have triple sec handy, you can substitute with another good-quality orange liqueur like Grand Marnier or Cointreau.
In a co*cktail shaker, combine tequila, Cointreau, and lime juice. Fill with ice and shake until thoroughly chilled, about 15 seconds (the bottom of a metal shaker should frost over). Fill glasses with fresh ice and strain margarita into both glasses. Garnish with lime wheels and serve.
Blanco tequila is the go-to for Margaritas. It's a clear, usually unaged spirit (it's allowed to rest in barrels for no more than 60 days) that highlights the pure expression of distilled agave.
Jose Cuervo has been making tequila for over 250 years with the same experience, handcraftsmanship, and recipes that have been handed down generation through generation. Carefully choosing the best agaves, meticulous fermentation and distillation, and final processing result in the world's finest tequila.
Espolòn: Espolòn Blanco is a well-regarded and reasonably priced option that works well in Margaritas. Casa Noble: This brand is known for producing organic tequilas with a smooth and rich profile. Don Julio: Don Julio Blanco and Reposado are both popular choices for Margaritas, known for their quality and versatility.
Just as important as the style of tequila is the use of a high-quality orange liqueur. Part of the Daisy category of co*cktails, the Margarita calls for triple sec such as Cointreau for sweetness and balance. Though some may opt for agave nectar instead, the addition of the liqueur is what makes a true Margarita.
But if you're like me and want your margaritas sweet, Stodel said you should always use agave syrup. "It's an excellent sweetener for your margaritas, a natural product," he told me. "It comes from the thing that makes tequila, so I think it's awesome."
The "Original Margarita" recipe, as given by Cointreau on their website, has slightly more of their own sweet liqueur: 1 part white tequila, 1⁄2 part Cointreau, and 1⁄2 part fresh squeezed lime juice.
Triple sec is an orange-flavored liqueur that is commonly used in margaritas. If you don't have triple sec handy, you can substitute with another good-quality orange liqueur like Grand Marnier or Cointreau.
Triple sec, a term used interchangeably with curaçao, is a type of orange liqueur that provides fruity flavors as well as sweet and bitter notes — all of which are essential for a well-made Margarita. Popular labels include Cointreau, Combier, Pierre Ferrand Curaçao, and Grand Marnier.
The dirty margarita takes its inspiration from the dirty martini, a classic libation made with strong liquor and a splash of a little something not-so-clear. We swap olive juice for jalapeno brine, making this a drink that packs the heat–and a punch.
